Y Senedd

An exhibition by the Centre for the Movement of People at Aberystwyth University

Sponsored by Elin Jones MS

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. All over the country, we remember combatants and communities.

One of the war’s lesser-known aspects is that of displacement – over 60 million people were displaced in Europe alone, including many to Wales.

This exhibition includes artwork, artefacts and migration stories of those displaced to Wales during the first half of the 20th century: of refugees, prisoners of war, and evacuees from elsewhere in Britain.

It also features pieces from those who have arrived in Wales more recently due to conflict and war, including from Ukraine and Syria.

Eleni rydym yn dathlu 80 mlynedd ers diwedd yr Ail Ryfel Byd. Ledled y wlad, rydym yn cofio ymladdwyr a chymunedau.

Un o agweddau llai adnabyddus y rhyfel yw dadleoli – cafodd dros 60 miliwn o bobl eu dadleoli yn Ewrop yn unig, gan gynnwys llawer i Gymru.

Mae’r arddangosfa hon yn cynnwys gwaith celf, arteffactau a hanes mudo’r rhai a gafodd eu dadleoli i Gymru yn ystod hanner cyntaf yr 20fed ganrif: ffoaduriaid, carcharorion rhyfel, a faciwîs o fannau eraill ym Mhrydain.

Mae hefyd yn cynnwys darnau gan y rhai sydd wedi cyrraedd Cymru yn fwy diweddar yn sgil gwrthdaro a rhyfel, gan gynnwys o Wcráin a Syria.
