‘Witnessing Wales’ is a long-term study of community and nationhood, created through a series of journeys across the country. The work contains both landscapes and portraits, the latter made collaboratively with multiple communities; from newly arrived refugees to members of historic choirs.
While documentary in approach, the work conveys the feeling of being in a dream, with images of long summer evenings and dark winter nights, alongside references to Welsh history and folklore.
Born in 1984 in Alexandria, Egypt, Mohamed moved to Wales in 2007. He studied photography at Carmarthen School of Art, prior to completing a masters in Documentary Photography at the University of South Wales.

Mae ‘Tyst i Gymru’ yn astudiaeth hirdymor o gymuned a chenedligrwydd, a grëwyd drwy gyfres o deithiau ar draws y wlad. Mae’r gwaith yn cynnwys tirweddau a phortreadau, gyda’r portreadau wedi’i gwneud ar y cyd â llawer o gymunedau; o ffoaduriaid sydd newydd gyrraedd y wlad i aelodau o gorau hanesyddol.
Er bod y gwaith yn ddogfennol ei natur mae’n cyfleu’r teimlad o fod mewn breuddwyd, gyda delweddau o nosweithiau hirddydd haf a nosweithiau tywyll y gaeaf, ynghyd â chyfeiriadau at hanes a llên gwerin Cymru.
Ganed Mohamed ym 1984 yn Alexandria, yr Aifft, a symudodd i Gymru yn 2007. Astudiodd ffotograffiaeth yn Ysgol Gelf Caerfyrddin, cyn cwblhau gradd meistr mewn Ffotograffiaeth Ddogfennol ym Mhrifysgol De Cymru.
