Myths & Legends: Summer Exhibition at Craft in the Bay

A wonderful mix of contemporary craft and applied art can be seen in the Summer Show at Craft in the Bay this August. Twenty three artists selected from across the UK have created artwork in their specialist materials that demonstrate their individual interpretations of the exhibition theme. From the well known tales of the Mabinogion, to drawing parallels between historical narratives and 21st century socio-political situations – visitors to the exhibition can admire the high level of craftsmanship and creativity of the artists. Exhibition ends 28th August.

Also at Craft in the Bay this summer you can enjoy a stunning installation of paper sculpture created by artist Danielle Sullivan. Made entirely from reclaimed pages of Welsh text, the installation Blodeuwedd (‘Flower-Faced’), the wife of Lleu Llaw Gyffes in Welsh Mythology, includes Meadowsweet, Oak, Broom, Bean, Primrose, Nettle, Chestnut, Cockle and Hawthorn.Blodeuwedd was made by the magicians Math and Gwydion and is a central figure in Math fab Mathonwy, the last of Four Branches of the Mabinogi. This project was made possible with support from the Arts Council of Wales.
