UEFA Champions Festival

This a must-see for all those wishing to soak up the UEFA Champions League Final atmosphere when it comes to the Welsh Capital in June.

It’s free of charge and offers family entertainment throughout the day. With Saturday expected to be the busiest as fans of the participating finalists arrive in the city, Thursday, Friday and Sunday will be the best opportunity for locals to experience the Festival

Located in Cardiff Bay, the festival is expected to attract over 200,000 people throughout the four days, with all those in attendance given an opportunity to have their photo taken with the iconic trophy free-of-charge.

So, what will you see in Cardiff Bay between 1-3 June?
Champions Main Stage

A large Champions Main Stage will be situated in Roald Dahl Plass with a host of global and local artists, DJs and bands set to perform throughout each day.

Champions Floating Pitch

For the first time, a Champions Floating Pitch will be installed in the Bay and will host the highly-anticipated UEFA Ultimate Champions Match on Friday, June 2, featuring legends of the beautiful game.

In addition, the floating pitch will host community activity, including walking football, refugee teams from Cardiff, Swansea and Newport, a deaf football friendly international, learning disability and youth age groups matches.

Champions Gallery

The UEFA Champions Gallery, a museum celebrating the UCL’s history, will be located inside the iconic Wales Millennium Centre.

The gallery will also celebrate and showcase the fantastic work being done across Wales by clubs, schools and communities. It will also feature the work being done as part of the FAW’s Community Engagement Initiatives throughout the build-up to the finals, including the Cardiff 2017 Curriculum Resource which was created for all primary schools in Wales and the #ThisIsWelshFootball photography competition.

Creative Workshops

The Champions Gallery will also feature workshops on a range of topics such as sports photography, creative writing and video production.

Virtual Champions Arena

The Pierhead building will be transformed into an interactive Virtual Champions Arena offering an immersive virtual reality experience in which YOU can be part of the finalists’ “Road to Cardiff”.

UEFA Champions League Trophy Experience

There will be lots of UEFA fan engagement installations, the jewel in the crown being the iconic UEFA Champions League Trophy display, which gives visitors the opportunity to have a free photo taken alongside club football’s most iconic silverware, with the beautiful Cardiff Bay backdrop.

UEFA Partner Activations

All UEFA’s Champions League partners will be on site, offering a wide range of different activities for you to get involved with.

There will be food and drink stands and plenty more to see and do throughout each day.

The UEFA Champions Festival will close at 17.00 on Saturday 3 June and reopen again on Sunday 4 June. There will be no screening of the game at the Festival site. However, Thursday and Friday in particular will give residents and visitors the opportunity to experience the Festival first before many of the finalists’ fans arrive in the city.

Match day, on Saturday 3 June, is expected to be extremely busy as two sets of supporters head to the city for the game. It is expected that the fans will soak up the atmosphere at the Festival before heading to the stadium for the game.
