Unfolding Welsh Textiles: Past & Present

Eleven textile artists exhibiting their work following a period of individual research into historic textiles collections in Wales. Each maker using their chosen textile item – whether part of an archive collection within museums, or an heirloom item they had at home – as inspiration to explore process, materials, colour and pattern to create a new piece or small collection of work. Supported with funding from the Ashley Family Foundation, the Makers Guild Wales have been able to initiate this research project, taking makers along new paths with their work as they make connections between their own textile practice and that of historic, traditional and industrial textiles within Wales.
